Feel yourself going back in time as you leave the Dublin
traffic behind and pass through the archway into the cobbled
stone courtyard of Dublin's oldest pub.
'The Brazen Head’s' history goes back eight centuries
to 1198 when Norman Mercenaries and Viking merchants gathered
here to swap slaves and ladies of the night. The pub gets
its name from the burning buckets (or braziers) over which
the guards warmed their hands on those cold dark nights.
Located right in the heart of historical Dublin, it is
the perfect setting for a genuine Irish pub experience.
The low beamed ceilings and old fireplaces give a warm
atmosphere to this place, which over the years has served
as a popular meeting point for the leaders of many Irish
rebellions including Michael Collins and Robert Emmet.
Several well known writers and playwrights also patronised
this pub including Ireland’s Nobel laureate James
Joyce.
'The Brazen Head' is well regarded for its wholesome traditional
Irish food making it the perfect compliment to this enchanting
evening of folklore.
